The Abia Care Center is a 50 bed ultramodern medical facility with NCDC approved molecular laboratory for PCR testing. The facility was built by Concerned Abia Professionals, and it is located inside the Federal Medical Center in Umuahia, Abia State. The fully equipped facility which was built to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic in Abia State is set to be commissioned tomorrow, October 11, 2020.

According to Charles Nwangwa who took newsmen round the project yesterday, he said the idea of setting up Abia Care Center originated from Barr. Mrs. Ngozi Ekeoma who felt there was a compelling need for Abians of goodwill to come together and set up an isolation center for the management of Covid-19 cases in the state.

“Abia Care Center is not just an isolation ward, it is a fully equipped medical ward with molecular laboratory to ensure full diagnosis and treatment of persons infected with Covid-19.”

As at the time of this report, Abia has 898 Covid-19 cases, with 872 recovered and 8 deaths.

The Commissioning of the Abia Care Center
