The All Progressives Congress Governorship candidate in Abia State, Chief Eric Opah, has categorically stated that Abia state is still lacking in terms of infrastructures and developments in other sectors when compared to the amount of funds and federal allocations that has been pumped into the state. Chief Eric made this known while speaking with newsmen at his campaign office in Umuahia, on Saturday, 7th November 2026.

Chief Opah said these are the level of immense changes he intend to make when elected into office come 2027.
In his words, “Today no local government receives less than 350 million naira, but look at our local governments, some of the local government secretariats are outgrown with weeds. If you go to the local government secretariats, their facilities does not look like what that of a local government should be. They do not appear in tandem with that of other states. We shall look into this and ensure effective correction when elected into power. “
“Abia state economy has received up to 1.8 trillion naira in funds, but when you look into the state and its economy, it doesn’t look like a state that has received such an amount. These are the issues we must look into. From outside, people keep saying Abia state is the best, but is that actually in tandem with the funds that has been received.”
Chief Eric further compared infrastructures you will find in neighbouring state like Imo, and Enugu with that of Abia, and he clearly conclude that Abia is lacking fat behind with the funds it has received
In what he will do different when elected as the next governor or Abia State, Chief Eric Opah said:
“We will appoint people that will be accountable and transparent in all sectors.”
“My word-word has always been, “do what you say”. I will not interfere with LG allocations.’
The policy failures that we will correct:
“We will not flag-off any project we are not ready to build. Currently, their are three projects that has been flagged off but hasn’t been started. “
“Albia will have medical facilities that will make Abians not to go for medical trip to other states, or abroad.”
The APC governorship candidate said he will actualise all these and more if Abians give him the opportunity to be the next governor of the state.
