THE ATUMA EFFECT: WHY APC IS STRONGER AND ABIA CENTRAL IS WISER

…An Electoral and Voters Education Article

By Prince Kelechi Prico.

In every election, the people must ask one honest and petinent question: Who has the capacity to give us effective representation? In Abia Central today, the answer is clear: REP. EMEKA ATUMA.

The Atuma Effect: Why APC is Stronger and Abia Central is Wiser

For the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rep. Emeka Atuma is not just a candidate, he is an ASSET. He is the strength, the crowd-puller and the winning formula that has made APC the party to beat in Abia Central.

THE STRENGTH OF 4 YEARS THAT SPEAKS FOR 19 YEARS

Many spent more years in the House of Representatives and Senate and were now forgotten. This is not so with Rep Atuma. He spent just 4 years (2003-2007) representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and 19 years after he left in 2007, his name still resonates and the projects he attracted are still serving his people.

That indeed is the mark of sustainable representation. In other words, it is the Atuma Effect.

Consider this, while others were enriching themselves and their families, Atuma chose good name rather than riches and today his indelible achievements are on ground, emulating the selfless leadership model of Dr. M. I. Okpara. He was building roads, containing erosion, building schools and empowering the people.

HIS VERIFIABLE ACHIEVEMENTS AS A FIRST-TIMER IN THE HOUSE (2003-2007):

  1. Massive Road Infrastructure: Construction of the Ndoro-Ntalakwu Road, Ikwueke-Isiala Oboro Road, Nnono-Isi Court Road, and parts of the Okwuta-Ibeku Road network to open up rural communities.
  2. Erosion Control Masterstroke: The life-saving Amauzu Ibere Erosion Control Project which saved over 5 communities from being cut off from neighbouring communities
  3. Education Revolution: Construction and renovation of over 20 classroom blocks at Community Primary Schools in Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South. Supply of desks, science laboratory equipment and library materials to secondary schools.
  4. Rural Electrification: Facilitated electricity extension projects in several rural wards in Ikwuano and Umuahia.
  5. Human Capital Investment: Awarded scholarships to over 300 indigent students, sponsored over 150 youths for skills acquisition in ICT, tailoring and mechanic trades.
  6. Health Intervention: Donation of hospital equipment to Health Centres in Olokoro, Ubakala and Ibeku, and free medical outreaches.
  7. Legislative Excellence: As an active member, he sponsored and co-sponsored people-oriented bills and motions, and served diligently on key House Committees, earning respect as a vocal voice for Abia.

19 YEARS AFTER OFFICE: THE MAN WHO NEVER ABANDONED HIS PEOPLE

What is more impressive and exceptional? Since 2007, for 19 years after he left office, Rep. Emeka Atuma has continued to contribute to human development more than many sitting office holders.

He has remained steadfast in caring for widows, a brother to the youth, a supporter of the church, a friend to traders and farmers, and a major employer of labour through his thriving national and international businesses in oil & gas, construction and real estate.

He did not disappear. He did not abandon his people.

  • He has been paying school fees and WAEC/JAMB fees for hundreds of students annually.
  • He has been off setting medical bills of indigent people in his constituency.
  • He has supported churches, communities, women August meetings and youth programmes with millions of naira.
  • He has provided business grants and Keke NAPEP, motorcycles and sewing machines to youths and women.
  • He has been a major financier of the APC in Abia State, ensuring the party remains strong at the grassroots.

That is why wherever he goes today, the acceptance is organic and overwhelming.

THE TOUR THAT PROVES HE CARES

Unlike other candidates who sit in their comfort zones, travel to Abuja and overseas, Rep. Emeka Atuma has embarked on a painstaking Constituency Needs accessment Tour of all the 108 ABSIEC Wards in Abia Central. From Uratta to Olokoro, from Ubakala to Ibeku, from Isiala Ngwa North to Isiala Ngwa South, his ongoing consultation tour has been met with unprecedented love and acceptance.
And of a truth,
He is not just campaigning, he is LISTENING. He is asking for the needs of the people: What do you needs of the people. He is documenting dilapidated schools, bad roads, water problems and youth unemployment to articulate for proper attention and execution to raise the standard of living of the people.

The result? Everywhere he goes, the chant is the same: ATUMA NWEERE WEIGHT, ATUMA KA ANYI MA, ATUMA BU ONYE NKE ANYI! Truly, ATUMA IS IN THE HEART OF EVERYONE.

FOR THE VOTERS: WHY THIS MATTERS TO APC AND TO YOU

  1. A vote for Atuma is a vote for experience this is because he has the requisite knowledge of legislative and oversight functions. He has thoroughly learnt the robes quickly fit into the Senate and its legislative business.
  2. A vote for Atuma is a vote for connection to the centre. As APC candidate, he will bring Abia Central closer to the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and attract the Renewed Hope dividends.
  3. A vote for Atuma is a vote for proven integrity, capacity and business acumen that can attract sustainable infrastructural development, Federal jobs, and investment.

Abia Central, the time has come to choose capacity over mediocrity, track record over propaganda, and a man who is already in the heart of everyone over neophytes.
All said,
Let us vote Rep. Emeka Atuma for Senate, Abia Central Senatorial District. Let us vote APC!
