THE CAPITAL SUPERMARKET LIE: HOW AGUOCHA’S PROPAGANDA COLLAPSED INSIDE A SHOP

By MANDATE 27 GROUP

THE LIE THAT LIVED TOO LONG

For years, a gutter story was hawked around Umuahia and social media about a former Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, being beaten by soldiers inside Capital Supermarket. It was salacious, it was dramatic, it was designed to humiliate a man who built political structure in Abia. And it was the only weapon left for a Rep who has no project to show. Today, that lie has died inside the same supermarket where it was said to have happened.

The Capital Supermarket Lie: How Aguocha's Propaganda Collapsed Inside a Shop

THE OWNER SPEAKS, THE LIE DIES

Chief Over Anopuoechi, CEO of Capital Supermarket himself, has finally spoken in plain Igbo and English: “Ikuku never came to my Supermarket. The incident never happened. How can such happen in my supermarket and I am not aware? I was surprised years ago when that nonsense was spreading. Which soldier? I didn’t see any one or thing of such. Listen. These are people who want to spoil my business that are spreading that fallacy. Please ignore.” That is not a politician talking. That is the owner of the business, the landlord of the alleged crime scene, saying nothing happened in his shop. If a man says nothing happened in his own shop, who is Aguocha to say something happened?

A DROWNING MAN AND HIS STRAW

The proverb says a drowning man hangs even on a straw. Obi Aguocha is drowning politically. No visible N40bn constituency impact, two trailers of invisible rice, spoiled garri in Umuochi that made his own mothers hold their noses. So what does a drowning man do? He manufactures a story about his predecessor being beaten. Because if you cannot show what you built, you must show who you destroyed. It is infantile propaganda, the politics of “if I cannot shine, I must spoil your light.”

THE MASTER LIAR TEMPLATE

This is not the first lie. First, they said rice was shared, but no ward list. Second, they said garri was fresh, but women choked on stench. Third, they said he had 25 bills that will turn Ikwuano to London, but no presidential assent, no Senate concurrence, no building on ground. Now, the supermarket lie. The pattern is consistent: lie, lie, lie, until reality punctures it. Chief Anopuoechi has punctured it with one sentence. There was no soldier. There was no beating. There was only a desperate attempt to spoil a man’s name to spoil a business and to win sympathy.

WHY THE LIE WAS NEEDED

Why would a sitting Rep push such cheap propaganda? Because he has nothing to campaign with. On May 31, 2026, he got automatic ticket with 77,482 votes from Usman faction of his Party, but automatic ticket is not automatic performance. When you go to Bende, Kalu shows SEDC and two universities. When you go to Isuikwuato, Amobi Ogah shows classrooms. When you go to Ikwuano/Umuahia, what do you show? So you divert attention to “Ikuku was beaten.” It is the classic tactic of a completely dishonorable individual who cannot face his own scorecard, so he tries to tear the scorecard of another.

THE DISHONORABLE BADGE

A honorable man debates projects. A dishonorable man debates persons. A honorable man publishes his constituency fund audit. A dishonorable man publishes Photoshop of soldier beating. A honorable man apologizes when his garri spoils. A dishonorable man says his kinsmen are blackmailers. Chief Anopuoechi’s statement has now branded this politics for what it is: horrible. You wanted to spoil Capital Supermarket’s business with false security scare just to score cheap point. Traders now know who wants to spoil business in Umuahia.

CONCLUSION: 2027 WILL PUNISH LIARS

Come 2027, Ikwuano/Umuahia will not vote for who told the best supermarket story. They will vote for who brought road, light, school, water, federal job. Peter Obi wave that brought Aguocha in 2023 is gone – Obi is now in NDC with Kwankwaso. The Capital Supermarket owner has told the truth and the truth has set Ikuku free and has caged the liar. When a Rep has no garri to give, no rice to show, no project to commission, he resorts to lies. But as Chief Anopuoechi has shown, lies have expiry date, just like spoiled garri.
