The Don Lulu Foundation Rural Youth and Women Development Programme Through Agriculture has graduated the first batch of beneficiaries of its free training programme on “Basic Farm and Poultry Management”. The graduation ceremony took place at the Oba of Ekeoba’s palace, Ekeoba Ohuhu, Umuahia on December 3rd 2021.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the Don Lulu foundation, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, says the economic hardship that is been experienced in the country prompted him to carry out this initiative, and making sure it is free of charge and fully funded by his foundation, is the little way he feel he can pay back to his community. With the intent of still supporting them with funds in setting up their respective poultry farms, he advised the graduands to go out and make judicious use of what they have learnt, and also turn out to become employers of labour.
The trainer of the programme and director of Lehae Farms, Dr Emmanuel Mgbekwute, revealed that 600 participants enrolled for the training which commenced on October 13, 2021 and spanned through a period of 6 weeks. He also presented to Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, the first batch who successfully completed and graduated from the training. Awards were given to graduands who came out in flying colours in specific areas of assessment
Dr. Emmannuel also adviced the beneficiaries who graduated from this free training to never take this opportunity for granted, and they should never forget Don Lulu who made it possible for them. The beneficiaries also graced the event with presentation of songs and their programme anthem.
