Members of Abia State Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON) has dismissed and described as “fake news”, the news making wave in the media that its chairman , Hon. Ibe Nwoke, he has been removed as the leader of the association.

Abia ALGON Debunks Claim About The Removal of Hon Ibe Nwoke as Chairman

Unanimously, the Chairmen also expressed shock by the height of mischief act of those they termed shadow fake news peddlers who doctored part of the State ALGON Chairman press statement where he stated that there was no rift anywhere between ALGON and State Government, to curry a news publication for their selfish gains.

While they asked members of the public to ignore the news as it is the handiwork of mischief makers, they further said that they are solidly behind the ALGON chairmanship of Hon. Ibe Nwoke.

Furthermore, they stated that it was a pity that some persons decided to mischievously invent lies and went about spreading fake news in the media by saying that Abia State ALGON members removed him as their leader.

Strongly, they advise the perpetrators of the fake news to desist from peddling false news and instigating crisis where there is none in Abia, as the selfish gains they stand to gain will lead to self destruction.

Recall that Hon. Ibe Nwoke ALGON chairman, addressed the journalists in Umuahia after he chaired the monthly Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC), and stated that there is no rift between Abia ALGON and the state government.

He also stated that his statement was misinterpreted and misrepresented.

On the issue of planned purchase of vehicles for Chairmen and Deputy men of the 17 LGAs in the state, the ALGON chairman clearly said that the figures quoted in some quarters of the media was inaccurate.

According to him “The figures that you just mentioned are social media controversies and there’s no issues like that. Just like I have said before that we have made a request and we are waiting for response. “

“ Nobody is undermining the office of the Governor and nobody is working against the Governor. All Local governments, the seventeen of us are very very loyal to the Governor. One of our mandates is to support Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration and that is what we are doing. So, there is no controversy, there is no issue, that is why we are one body and Abia State Government is ours”.

On the alleged threat to his life, the Obingwa Local Government Chairman said ” everything is okay, although there were so issues that came up and I have reported to security agencies. For now, everything is calm and peaceful”.
