former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has described education as her primary weapon against ignorance and poverty in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.
In a statement on Friday, the APC candidate said no society can make meaningful progress without heavy investment in the education of its youths.
Onyejeocha said her focus while in office was on both academic and skills-based education to make constituents productive and self-reliant.
She listed projects she facilitated, including the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic Ngodo, now operating with full management structure, renovation and reconstruction of schools across Eluama, Nneato, Akporo, Achara, Leru and Ndiawa, and the setting up of skills acquisition centers in Umuada and Isuochi.
She added that ICT centers at Isuochi and the Isuikwuato Council Headquarters are also equipping youths for present and future challenges.
“Three years after leaving office, these projects are still standing and serving the people,” Onyejeocha stated. “If I empower people with billions of naira today without empowering the future with quality education, then I have failed as a leader.”
She said she takes pride in equipping and training youths for both white collar and skilled jobs, noting that the impact of the interventions can be verified across the constituency.
