In the month of June, 2020, the governor of Abia state, Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, approved the appointment of Professor Lawrence Nwaneri Chigbu as the new Rector of Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology located in Aba. Prof. Chigbu is a University Don, and a Professor of Medical Microbiology.

Prof. Lawrence Chigbu took over the position as the new Rector of Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, as the tenure of the former rector of the institution, Pro. Chidi Felix Ezeama comes to an end. The appointment commenced from the very date the tenure of the former rector elapsed.
