Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency has called on stakeholders to move Nigeria beyond political rhetoric and take concrete steps to harness the energy, creativity, and talents of its youths population through direct inclusion in governance and economic planning on the drive for sustainable economic development and national stability.
Rt Hon Orji who pledged to support legislation and local programs that position young people at the center of socio-economic growth made the call in his press statement released to commemorate International Youth Day.
Addressing the youths within his federal constituency and across the broader nation, Orji described youths as the primary force shaping the country’s future and stressed that no genuine community advancement or national development agenda can succeed if young people are excluded from critical decision-making processes.
“Investing in young people must go beyond rhetoric,” Orji stated. “It requires practical, measurable commitments to quality education, hands-on skills acquisition, entrepreneurship funding, leadership training, and youth-focused economic initiatives designed to make young citizens self-reliant and productive.”
The former speaker challenged the conventional notion that youth are simply “leaders of tomorrow,” arguing instead that they must be treated as essential partners in driving today’s development.
He urged public office holders, private sector leaders, and community stakeholders to build an environment that transforms youthful energy into viable enterprises capable of strengthening families and boosting the Nigerian economy.
Directing his message to the nation’s youth, he encouraged them to stay ambitious, innovative, and deeply involved in community service despite surrounding socioeconomic challenges.
“When we empower our youths, we are not only investing in individuals; we are investing in the future strength, prosperity, and stability of Nigeria,” Orji added. He concluded by urging young Nigerians to continuously acquire relevant skills, seize emerging opportunities, and maintain confidence in their power to effect real change.
