ISUIKWUATO — The 19th free medical outreach of the former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, recorded a major breakthrough in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State after surgeons saved the life of a patient with a complicated hernia.
The outreach, which commenced on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the General Hospital, Isuikwuato, is part of Onyejeocha’s long-running intervention to provide free healthcare to residents who cannot afford treatment.
‘We Saved A Life During Surgery’
Medical experts at the outreach, including the Team Lead, Dr. Humble Evuchiawe, said the high point of the exercise was the emergency surgery carried out on a patient whose intestine was trapped during a hernia operation.
According to him, the quick response of the medical team led to a successful Resection and Anastomosis procedure, which saved the patient’s life.
He described the intervention as the major breakthrough of the 19th edition of the outreach.
Onyejeocha: It’s About Service, Not Politics
Hon. Onyejeocha, who is also the APC House of Representatives candidate, visited the hospital on Day 2 of the outreach. She said her decision to sustain the medical intervention was borne out of a passion to make impact and save lives.
“The outreach has been ongoing even before I joined politics. It is a selfless service for humanity. Since inception, no life has been lost in any of our medical outreaches,” she said.
According to her, the programme goes beyond money and is a fulfilment of her desire to help people who may not be able to afford hospital treatment for certain ailments.
Onyejeocha emphasised that the medical outreach is open to everyone and not limited to party loyalists.
“It is my personal vow to always carry out this medical outreach whether in power or not,” she added.
She was accompanied on the visit by friends, well-wishers, a former Isuikwuato House of Assembly member, an Assembly candidate, and a former Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC, to encourage medical staff and constituents who came with different health issues.
300 Reading Glasses Distributed
As part of the intervention, about 300 reading glasses were distributed free to beneficiaries.
The former Minister also stressed the need for Nigerians to vote for God-fearing leaders, saying “eye-service in governance will not elevate any society.”
