The European Union has expanded sanctions against Belarus and imposed a ban on the export of goods and technologies to the country that contribute to its military and technological improvement, according to a statement published on Thursday on the website of the European Commission.

“The measures extend the ban on exports to Belarus to a number of highly sensitive goods and technologies that contribute to the military and technological strengthening of Belarus,” the document says.

In addition, the EU has imposed a ban on the export of weapons and ammunition to Belarus, as well as goods for use in the field of aviation and space.

“The Council (EU) also introduces an additional ban on the export of firearms and ammunition, as well as goods and technologies suitable for use in the aviation and space industry,” the European Commission said in a statement regarding the EU Council’s decision on Thursday to expand sanctions against Belarus
