Dr Eric Opah, Group Chief Executive Officer of Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics, has been named Entrepreneur Man of the Year by The Sun Newspaper, recognising more than two decades of leadership in shipping, logistics and supply chain management.

The award was presented at a ceremony in Lagos that brought together senior figures from Nigeria’s business, financial, legal and political communities. Organisers said the honour was in recognition of Opah’s role in building Fortune Global into a major player in Africa’s logistics sector with growing international reach.
Opah founded and has led Fortune Global for over 20 years, steering the company through expansion in a highly competitive industry. In 2013, the firm was ranked among Africa’s fastest growing companies, a milestone cited by the organisers as evidence of sustained growth under his leadership.
In a brief address at the event, Opah said the award reflected the collective efforts of his team and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening African participation in global trade and supply chains.
The ceremony was attended by senior executives from the energy, shipping, finance, manufacturing and logistics sectors, as well as representatives of government agencies and regulatory bodies. Those present included business leaders from oil and gas, banking and technology firms, alongside serving and former public officials.
Observers said the turnout highlighted Opah’s influence across multiple sectors and his standing within Nigeria’s corporate community.
Beyond his business activities, Opah is known for his engagement on global trade and supply chain issues, often advocating stronger institutional frameworks and sustainable business practices in Africa.
