BEYOND BLACKMAIL: A 7-POINT COVENANT FOR NDI IKWUANO/UMUAHIA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.

With the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having reportedly released the campaign timetable ahead of the 2027 general elections, political conversations across Abia State have begun to gather momentum. For the good people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, this is the moment to set the tone early.
As the All Progressives Congress candidate, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, steps into this race, one commitment stands firm from day one: this campaign will not be defined by mudslinging, blackmail, or name-calling. The season ahead will be difficult enough without adding noise to it.
The people deserve better. They deserve a conversation anchored on issues that touch their daily lives — the roads they ply, the schools their children attend, the clinics they depend on, and the jobs young people are waiting for. That is the standard Rt Hon Orji intends to keep.
To that end, we recently outlined a people-centered roadmap: a 7 Point Agenda built directly from conversations in Umuahia South, Umuahia North, and Ikwuano. It is not a manifesto written in Abuja and dropped here. It is a contract with you.
FIRST, ROADS AND RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE.
From the federal roads linking Umuahia to Ikwuano communities to the inner streets that flood every rainy season, infrastructure is the backbone of commerce. Rt Hon Orji’s priority will be to attract federal attention and constituency projects that fix critical roads, drainage, and electricity access, so that traders, farmers, and students can move safely and on time.
SECOND, QUALITY EDUCATION AND SKILLS ACQUISITION
Our constituency is home to some of the brightest minds in Nigeria. Yet potential without opportunity fades. The agenda commits to partnering with UBEC, TETFUND, and private partners to rehabilitate schools, provide learning materials, and expand vocational centers so that graduates leave with both certificates and employable skills.
THIRD, ACCESSIBLE HEALTHCARE. PRIMARY HEALTH CENTERS IN MANY WARDS ARE UNDER-EQUIPED.
We cannot talk about a productive people while mothers travel hours for basic care. The plan is to lobby for federal health interventions, support PHCs with equipment and drugs, and push health outreach programs that bring screening and treatment closer to the people.
FOURTH, YOUTH JOBS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
Unemployment is not a statistic here; it is the face of our brothers and sisters. This agenda focuses on linking youth to NDE, BOI, and federal skills programs, supporting MSMEs with training and access to markets, and creating a constituency entrepreneurship desk that helps young people write proposals and access funding.
FIFTH, AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY.
Ikwuano is agrarian. Umuahia North and South have thriving markets. Yet farmers still struggle with inputs, storage, and road access. Rt Hon Orji will push for federal agricultural schemes, facilitate farm-to-market roads, and support cooperatives so that what we grow here feeds our homes and earns income.
SIXTH, SECURITY AND COMMUNITY PEACE.
No development thrives in fear. The agenda includes working with federal security agencies, traditional rulers, and town unions to strengthen community policing, improve street lighting in flashpoints, and ensure that youths are engaged productively rather than left vulnerable.
SEVENTH, TRANSPARENT REPRESENTATION AND CONSTITUENCY OUTREACH.
Representation must be felt, not just heard. There will be quarterly town halls, a public report of constituency interventions, and an open office. The people will know what is coming, what has arrived, and what is still being pursued. No secrecy, no middlemen.
These seven points are not slogans. They are measurable commitments. And they will be the compass for every bill, motion, and project Rt Hon Orji pursues at the National Assembly.
Let it be said clearly: you will not see this campaign descend into personal attacks. Abia politics has suffered enough from that cycle. When others choose to trade insults, we will choose to trade ideas. When others spread rumors, we will spread plans.
That discipline matters because the problems we face are real and they require focus. A pothole does not care about your party. A hospital bed does not ask who you voted for. A young graduate only wants a chance to work.
The 2027 election is not about personalities alone. It is about who can sit in Abuja and still remember the woman selling at Isigate, the student at Michael Okpara University, the farmer in Olokoro, and the artisan in Ubakala.
Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is asking for your mandate not to fight people, but to fight for people. For better roads. For working schools. For clinics that have drugs. For jobs that have dignity.
As the campaign season opens, let us arm ourselves with knowledge and truth. Let us debate policies, track promises, and reward competence. The alternative — ignorance, deception, and lies — has cost us too much time.
To the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South: hold us to this standard. Ask questions. Demand answers. And together, let us run a campaign that, win and WN BY YOUR MANDATE, leaves our constituency more informed, more united, and more ready for the work ahead.
