For too long, the good people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South have watched their collective destiny being auctioned on the altar of mediocrity. Representation has been reduced to photo-ops, press releases and phantom project claims, while our communities groan under neglect. Today, we have reached a breaking point. As a people, we have decided that enough is enough, and history will record that we chose courage over compromise.
THE TIME FOR POLITE SILENCE IS OVER:
We in MANDATE 27 GROUP have observed with dismay what can only be described as near-death representation. A federal constituency as strategic, as educated and as industrious as Ikwuano Umuahia cannot be reduced to a footnote in the National Assembly. Where are the robust debates, the federal attractions, the legislative footprint? The answer is blowing in the wind.
A MANDATE MORTIFIED:
To mortify is to cause shame, to humiliate, to kill slowly. That is exactly what the incumbent representation has done to our mandate. Our mandate was given for voice, vigour and visibility. What we received in return is absence, excuses and appropriation of state government projects as constituency achievements. Our people are wiser now.
THE EVIDENCE IN OUR STREETS:
Walk through Ubakala, Olokoro, Umuahia, and Ikwuano and ask the people. Youths are unemployed not for lack of skills but for lack of leverage. Our women traders still battle darkness and poor infrastructure. The much-touted interventions remain unverifiable on ground, challenged by community stakeholders themselves. Representation cannot be by propaganda.
NO NEGOTIATION WITH FAILURE:
Let it be stated without equivocation: We cannot, we shall not, and we will never negotiate with the mortifiers of Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency. There is no middle ground between progress and retrogression. There is no roundtable with incompetence. You either deliver or you leave the stage. The incumbent has had its chance.
THE ABIA QUESTION DESERVES SERIOUSNESS:
This is no longer about party slogans. It is about legislative capacity. The House of Representatives is not a learning centre, it is a war room for federal resources, laws, and oversight. To send a learner to do a legislator’s job is to mortgage our future. Ikwuano Umuahia deserves a general, not a recruit.
WHY WE STAND WITH IKUKUOMA:
In the midst of this gloom, one name continues to radiate competence, character and capacity: Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji. A trained Civil Engineer, a former Speaker who stabilized the Abia Legislature, a philanthropist whose Direct Touch Initiative touched lives long before elections. His record is not manufactured; it is lived.
A LEGACY OF DELIVERY, NOT DECEIT:
When Rt Hon Orji served as Speaker, Abia saw what legislative leadership could do: potable water projects, mini-stadiums, school interventions, transformers, scholarships, ICT training for 200 youths, health centre rehabilitations and road projects. He did not wait to be in Abuja to impact lives. Imagine what he will do IN Abuja.
THE PEOPLE’S ASPIRATION IS NON-NEGOTIABLE: The aspiration for Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is not an elite contrivance. It is people-based, ward-based, and home-grown. Winning in all 32 wards of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South during the APC primaries was not a fluke; it was a referendum. The people have spoken, and there is no going back.
STRUCTURE, LAW AND DELIVERY:
The Ikuku Compact is clear: budget advocacy that brings federal roads and electrification home, agro-processing and storage for Ikwuano farmers, NHIA enrollment and health upgrades for our mothers, inclusion for women and persons with disabilities, and quarterly public tracking of projects. This is representation with a human face and an engineering precision.
THE HONOURABLE THING TO DO:
In any decent democracy, when you have failed, the most honourable thing is to step aside. But since honour is scarce in the camp of mortifiers, we shall do the honourable thing on their behalf: we shall retire them at the polls. And the most honourable thing for every lover of Ikwuano Umuahia today is to support the people-based aspiration of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
THIS IS NOT A CAMPAIGN OF NOISE: Let no one mistake our resolve for mere politics. This is a rescue mission. This is about restoring dignity to a constituency that has been demarketed nationally. This is about sending a man who knows the rules, knows the lobby, knows the law, and knows our people to represent us.
A WARNING TO THE COMPROMISE BROKERS:
To those shuttling between Umuahia and Abuja seeking to trade our future for crumbs, this message is for you: Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency is not for sale. Our conscience is not negotiable. Our mandate is not mortgageable. Any meeting convened to negotiate our destiny without Rt Hon Orji as the central agenda is dead on arrival.
THERE IS NO GOING BACK:
We have crossed the Rubicon. We have consulted our elders, our youths, our women, our farmers and our traders. The consensus is total and irreversible. 2027 is not about experiment; it is about experience. It is not about promises; it is about proof. And the proof points only in one direction.
THE FINAL VERDICT: Therefore, MANDATE 27 GROUP declares unequivocally and without fear or favour that we reject in its entirety the incumbent mortification of Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency. We endorse, adopt and shall work assiduously for the election of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji as the next Member representing Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency. No negotiation. No retreat. No surrender.
