An Advocacy Group, Peace in South-East Project, (PISE-P), says it is poised to ensure that normalcy is returned to South-East geopolitical zone through non-kinetic approach.

The group said in achieving this objective, it has put machineries in place to jaw jaw with agitating groups in the South-East, stressing that the root cause of a problem cannot be achieved without proper dialogue with the people.

Speaking while featuring on a Skills FM 87.7 programme, a former Lawmaker for Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly and the Co-ordinator, (PISE-P) in Abia, Hon. Mike Ukoha, said just like every other zone, commerce, banking activities will thrive in South-East if there is sustainable peace in the zone.

The ex-lawmaker who revealed that peace in the South-East is crucial to other zones, maintained that it will encourage investors to do business in the zone as well as reposition the economic viability of the zone.

Hon. Ukoha who pointed out that the PISE-P has identified fundamental areas to meaningfully engage youth, known as the eight pillars which include: education, agriculture, commerce and industry, infrastructural development, culture and tourism, sports and entertainment, governance and leadership, said PISE-P project is already gathering momentum in the South-East and beyond,

In his words, the PISE-P initiative has gone far and has gathered momentum. During our meeting with the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, he blessed the initiative and endorsed the non-kinetic approach which we intend to employ in achieving sustainable peace in South-East geopolitical zone”.

He said the group also set out to rehabilitate, re-integrate and reconcile aggrieved groups in the South-East to conform with this peace initiative of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who is desirous in the use of a non-kinetic approach in tackling insecurity in the South-East.

Hon. Ukoha called on critical stakeholders in the South-East to key into this laudable initiative aimed at transforming and bringing sustainable peace in the area, emphasizing that normalcy must be return to the zone to enable businesses thrive, and school children resume classes on Mondays.

He also lauded the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who according to him is championing this course by galvanizing all the lawmakers in the National Assembly from South-East extraction, stating that the South-East Governors have also bought the idea of using non-violent approach in addressing insecurity in the South-East geopolitical zone.

The former lawmaker informed that the programme will be unveiled officially on 29th December, stressing that the day will coincide with the home coming of their illustrious son, Benjamin Kanu.
