Abians, especially Aba residents, have been notified of the activities of Land Grabbers who occupy property of individuals in the State.
Using a case at hand, a Legal Practitioner, Barr. Elochukwu Obieze, while addressing newsmen on Monday after the demolition of certain shops along Old Express way by Shoe Plaza, Aba, said unscrupulous individuals (Land Grabbers) built shops for rent which is at a foundational level, adding that the land does not belong to them.
He informed that despite existing court injunction to this effect and several arrests made by the Nigeria Police Force ZONE 9 division, these individuals have continued to claim ownership of the land, hence the reason why the structures were demolished.
Barr. Obieze advised the general public against performing any transactions with these individuals on the property either by renting or buying any shop from them, stressing that such person does so at his/her own risk, just as he advised Abians in general to take note of activities of Land Grabbers.
He called on Landlords to report Land Grabbers whose activities are increasing in the state lately, expressing optimism that the Abia State Government under the leadership of Dr. Alex Otti will look into the activities of these individuals.
