MISPLACED PRIORITY: FIX UBAHA PRIMARY SCHOOL BEFORE THE N80,000 EYE-SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP IN AMEKE IBEKU
The recent show by Hon. Obi Aguocha in Ameke Ibeku where he gave N80,000 to 20 Undergraduates and called it a scholarship scheme is an insult to the intelligence of Ameke Ibeku people and a clear case of misplaced priority and eye service.

Let us be very clear. We are not against helping students. Every support to our young people is welcome. But when you turn an N80,000 handout into a celebrated scholarship scheme with photos and press statements, while a whole public school in your own Ohuhu is rotting away, then you have lost focus.
Hon Obi Aguocha should fix Ubaha Primary School in Oriendu Village in Ohuhu before coming to Ameke Ibeku to give an Undergraduate 80,000 naira and call it a scholarship scheme.
Anyone who has been to Ubaha Primary School in Oriendu Village in Ohuhu will weep. The school is in a total state of decay:
- Roofs are leaking and blown off
- Classrooms have no windows and no doors
- Pupils sit on bare floor to learn
- No desks, no chairs, no learning materials
- The building itself is a death trap with grasses everywhere like a forest
This is a foundational school that produced many sons and daughters of Ohuhu, yet it has been abandoned. This is where you build the future, not with a one-off N80,000 that cannot even pay one semester school fees in today’s Nigeria.
What can N80,000 do for a university student in 2026? One textbook is N30,000. One hostel fee is over N100,000. So what scholarship are we talking about?
True representation is not about sharing small money for camera. It is about legacy projects. If Hon. Aguocha had taken that same energy and money and channeled it into renovating one block of Ubaha Primary School in Oriendu Village, his name would be written in gold. Our children would have a safe place to learn for the next 20 years.
But he left Ubaha Primary School to collapse and came to Ameke Ibeku to do stipend politics. That is not scholarship. That is eye-service.
your constituents deserve more than N80,000 photo-op scholarships. We deserve functional schools, renovated classrooms, and real educational investment.
Fix Ubaha Primary School first before doing eye service for the camera. That is what a true Representative should do.
