Bishop Dr Emeka Nwankpa, the Accord Party governorship candidate in Abia State in the just-concluded governorship election, has described the late Prof Uche Ikonne as a ‘fallen hero’.
In paying glowing tributes in honuor of the former governorship candidate of the PDP in Abia State who died a few weeks to the election, the revered cleric described Ikonne as a worthy brother and fellow compatriot whose dream was to see a better Abia.

In an emotion-filled eulogy, Bishop Nwankpa recalled how, in the build-up to the election, he and the late Professor ran issue-based campaigns devoid of rancour and acrimony despite their political divides.
Describing Ikonne’s death as a huge and irreparable loss, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa summarized that ‘in Ikonne, Abia lost a great son.’ While praying to God to console the immediate family of the departed professor of optometry, he admonished them to uphold the virtues for which Prof Uche Ikonne was known.
