Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has stated that his administration has constructed many roads in Abia state that will stand the test of time. He made this known to members of the Abia Online Media Practitioners, on Saturday, July 30, 2020, at the Governors lodge in Aba.
While speaking to newsmen, the Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu reflected on the sad situation of roads in Aba before 2015 when he was first elected as governor of the state. He said the roads ere in deplorable state, and it took him courage and hard work to eventually give those roads an aesthetic outlook which Abians are enjoying today.
In his words “My administration has constructed many roads in Aba that can stand the test of time by using cement technology”
“why I use cement, concrete, and 9-inch rods to construct roads is because I want to build quality roads that can last. The person who will come after me will not go back to those roads. This is the only way we can recover our cities, and if we continue to recycle on the same roads, when are we going to do virgin roads”
He said though past administrations contributed their quota towards improving infrastructure in the State, his administration introduced a scientific method in road construction -the cement technology, stressing that this is done despite the high cost of cement in the country.
Governor Ikpeazu said a lot of manpower, time, resources among others were deployed in places such as Omuma, Umuola, Osusu Roads extending to Ngwa High School, Aba/Owerri Road, noting that these efforts are geared towards complementing his administration’s urban renewal efforts.

He said amid criticisms, he has refused to be deterred by unverified social media reports as he has submitted himself to the verdict of history just as he noted that his administration has also given the State a long term development plan which according to him, is the first of its kind.
Governor Ikpeazu used the period to urge members of the Association to be mindful of their reports even as the country is approaching the period of politicking, stressing that he has been amazed by the level of fake and unverified reports on social media.
