THREE YEARS IN, LET’S LOOK AT THE RECORD OF HON. CHINASA ANTHONY (ABIOLA).
The best way to judge a legislator is simple, look at what has actually been put on the table.
Since June 2023, when Hon. Chinasa Anthony Abiola was inaugurated as the Member Representing Umuahia Central State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, his legislative activities have covered issues that go beyond politics and directly touch everyday life.
Among the documented initiatives associated with him are at least five major bills and legislative proposals covering education, road safety, gaming regulation, land administration and sports development.
One of the biggest milestones is the Abia State Primary and Secondary School Education Reform Bill, 2024 (H.A.B. 26), which he sponsored and which eventually progressed through the Assembly and became law in 2025.
Then there are other initiatives:
🔹 Road Traffic and Safety Management Bill, 2025.
Focused on improving traffic management and road safety.
🔹 Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Regulation and Control Bill, 2025.
Aimed at strengthening regulation of gaming activities in the state.
🔹 Land Instrument Registration (Amendment No. 1) Bill, 2025.
Addressing issues around land documentation and registration.
🔹 Sports Endowment Fund Bill.
Proposing a more sustainable way of financing sports development through sponsorship, private-sector participation and other funding sources. The bill had reached the public-hearing stage by 2026.
And it hasn’t been only about bills.
When residents continued to raise concerns about electricity billing and access to prepaid meters, the issue was taken to the floor of the House, leading to engagement with the relevant electricity authorities.
Of course, a legislative record should not be judged by the number of bills alone. What matters ultimately is implementation, impact and how these interventions improve people’s lives.
But three years in, there is something concrete to examine.
From education to road safety.
From land administration to gaming regulation.
From sports development to electricity concerns.
The conversations have been taken to the legislative floor.
The work continues, and so should the scrutiny.
The people deserve to judge their representatives by the work, the results and the evidence.
