FACTS OVER FALSEHOOD: WHY IKWUANO/UMUAHIA WILL CHOOSE COMPETENCE OVER BLACKMAIL IN 2027

By MANDATE 27 GROUP

We have read the online press statement dated 9th October 2026 credited to the Media Team of Obi Aguocha Campaign Organisation. While everyone has a right to support a candidate, that right does not include manufacturing falsehood, rehashing rejected propaganda, and attempting to place a generational ban on a family that has served Abia in different capacities. Elections are won on empirical performance, not on recycled insults. This reply punctures the unfounded assertions with facts.

Facts Over Falsehood: Why Ikwuano/Umuahia Will Choose Competence Over Blackmail in 2027

PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE IS LAW, NOT OPINION

The press release cites charge numbers HU/69C/2024 and FHC/ABJ/CS/03/V/2025 as if charge equals conviction. Under Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution, every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. Filing a charge is not a finding of guilt. The EFCC itself states that trial is to determine facts. To use pending trials to declare a man a thief is to usurp the court. The law does not work that way.

CHINEDUM ORJI’S PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY IS VERIFIABLE

The claim that Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has never been gainfully employed except in Abia treasury is false on record. He is a trained Civil Engineer, graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO 1996, and holds Fellowships: FNSE, FNICE, FNITHE. He practiced as an engineer and businessman long before elective office. Reducing a licensed engineer to a tagline is deliberate distortion that collapses under verification.

2023 WAS A WAVE, NOT A REFERENDUM ON COMPETENCE

The 2023 election in Ikwuano Umuahia was fought at the peak of the Labour Party wave that swept Abia and the South East. That national wave affected many competent legislators across parties. To rewrite that wave as a permanent rejection of one man is to misread Nigerian electoral history. Waves recede, performance remains. 2027 will be about who can legislate effectively, not who surfed a wave in 2023.

LEGISLATIVE RECORD THAT NO PRESS RELEASE CAN ERASE

Rt Hon Chinedum Orji’s record as 11th Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly is in the laws of Abia State. Under his leadership, the House passed the House of Assembly Service Commission Law, Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, Female Right of Inheritance Law, Disabilities Welfare Law, Consumer Protection Law, Audit Law, Judiciary Fund Management Law, Diaspora Commission Law, and Water and Sewage Development Law. These are public documents, not campaign claims.

REPRESENTATION IS MEASURED BY TOUCH, NOT TALK

Federal representation is not about old Abia State or new Abia State, it is about capacity to deliver. Through his Direct Touch Initiative, Orji built classroom blocks, provided water projects including at School of the Blind Afaraukwu, powered communities, and trained youths. Those projects are on ground and verifiable. That is the antecedent that distinguishes a legislator from a propagandist.

GENERATIONAL BAN IS ANTI-DEMOCRATIC

The call for permanent retirement of the Orji family from politics is a call for hereditary blacklisting. Democracy does not ban generations, it elects individuals on merit. Theodore Ahamefule Orji served as Governor and Senator, Chinedum Orji served as legislator and Speaker on his own ballot. To seek to punish a son for his father’s service is not democracy, it is political vendetta dressed as morality.

WHAT IKWUANO UMUAHIA NEEDS IN ABUJA IS RANKING AND COMPETENCE

Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency hosts the state capital. It needs a ranking voice that understands appropriation, oversight, legislative drafting and executive-legislative negotiation from day one. As Majority Leader for four years and Speaker for four years, Orji brings that ranking advantage. Federal legislature rewards experience, not noise.

COMPARISON MUST BE ON LAWS, NOT LABELS

The press release offers labels – discredited dynasty, deputy jesus, looting. It offers no single bill, no motion, no oversight report, no federal attraction that betters Orji’s record. In a contest of who has superior legislative qualities, the answer is found in who has passed laws that protect women, children, persons with disabilities, and improved public finance accountability. That record favours Orji.

BLACKMAIL IS NOT A LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

Destroying billboards, forging rotation documents in other constituencies, and now publishing abusive press releases with its attendant blackmail in Ikwuano Umuahia reveals a pattern: when performance is absent, blackmail becomes strategy. But Abia voters have matured. They now ask what has my representative done, what law has he sponsored, what project has he attracted. Abuse does not answer that question.

WHY CHINEDUM ORJI IS BY FAR BETTER PREPARED

Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is by far better prepared because he combines technical training as an engineer with eight years of legislative practice and proven leadership that stabilized a House under pressure. He is firm under provocation, accessible to constituents, and nationally connected as State Chairman of City Boy Movement under the ruling APC. That blend of competence, character and connection is superior.

DEMOCRACY REWARDS PERFORMANCE, NOT PERMANENT ANGER

The phrase Ndi Abia are waiting and have not forgotten must be redirected: Ndi Ikwuano Umuahia have not forgotten who gave them live streaming of plenary for transparency, who sponsored welfare laws for the elderly and disabled, and who showed up in communities when campaigns ended. Permanent anger does not build roads or pass bills.

CONCLUSION: THE PEOPLE WILL DECIDE ON FACTS

This response has deliberately refused to join issues with insults. The people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South will decide in 2027 based on who has credibility and superior qualities to do better based on antecedents and track record. On that scale, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji stands tall as a tested legislator, a professional engineer, and a proven institution builder who offers Ikwuano Umuahia effective representation at the centre.
