President Muhammadu Buhari, in his address to the nation this evening has ordered for the total lockdown of Abuja, Lagos, and Ogun state as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that is gradually spreading across the country. This simply means there is a total restriction of movements and some economic activities in the above mentioned states, and the Federal Capital Territory
Up till date, Lagos and Abuja has the highest amount ot COVID-19 confirmed cases in Nigeria. President Buhari addresses that the main focus now is to urgently and drastically contain these cases and to support other states and regions in the country in best way. He also talked about the interventions the federal government has implemented to curtail this pandemic in the affected states.
The president stated that the cessation of movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days is based on the advice or the Federal ministry of Health and the NCDC. The restriction also affected Ogun state due to its proximity to Lagos and the high human traffic between the two states.
The curfew will commence from 11PM on Monday, March 30th, 2020. All citizens and inhabitants in the affected states and FCT are strongly adviced to adhere to the rules .
