AUDI ALTERAM PARTEM: WHY IKWUANO/UMUAHIA HAS HEARD THE INCUMBENT AND CHOSEN RT. HON. CHINEDUM ENYINNAYA ORJI AS THE QUALITY ALTERNATIVE

By MANDATE 27 GROUP

THE LAW HAS HEARD ONE SIDE, NOW IT MUST HEAR THE OTHER

Audi alteram partem – let the other side be heard. It is the irreducible minimum of justice, of democracy, of leadership. For three and half years, Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency have diligently listened to one side – the side of the incumbent representation. They have heard its motions, or lack thereof. They have seen its bills, or lack thereof. They have weighed its presence, or lack thereof. And having heard, they have made deductible reasonings, as any reasonable people would. Their verdict is unanimous and unvarnished: they are fed up. The representation does not befit the stature of a strategic constituency like Ikwuano/Umuahia – the capital constituency, the host of Michael Okpara University, the home of civil servants, professors, traders and farmers. And because justice demands that the other side be heard, they are now listening to a compelling, credible, quality alternative: Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji. And what they hear is music to their ears.

Audi Alteram Partem: Why Ikwuano/Umuahia Has Heard the Incumbent and Chose Chinedum Orji as the Quality Alternative

THE CONSTITUENCY HAS HEARD ENOUGH

Ikwuano/Umuahia listened for three and half years. They listened when the incumbent promised effective representation. They waited for bills that would bear their name. They waited for motions that would move their cause. They waited for federal presence that would dignify their capital status. What they heard was silence. What they saw was absence. A constituency that should be roaring in the National Assembly has been reduced to a whisper. And a people as enlightened as Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia do not need a soothsayer to know that enough is enough.

A STRATEGIC CONSTITUENCY DESERVES STRATEGIC REPRESENTATION

Ikwuano/Umuahia is not just any constituency. It is the capital constituency. It houses the seat of government in Umuahia. It hosts MOUAU in Ikwuano. It is the convergence of the bureaucracy, the intelligentsia, the commerce and the agrarian strength of Abia. Such a constituency cannot be represented by absenteeism. It needs a strategist, a man who understands the burden of a capital and the hunger of a federal university community. It needs strategic representation, not audio representation. That is why they have turned to Orji.

AUDI ALTERAM PARTEM: THE PEOPLE NOW LISTEN TO ORJI

Having heard the incumbent and made deductible reasonings, the people have invoked their democratic right of audi alteram partem. They are now listening to the other side – to Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji. And what they hear is different. They hear experience. They hear pedigree. They hear a man who has done it before and can do it better. They hear Accountability as Emancipation. They hear a man who does not need to learn on the job.

PEDIGREE THAT CANNOT BE FABRICATED

Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji comes with a pedigree that cannot be fabricated, cannot be photoshopped, cannot be rented. He was the Speaker of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly – the longest serving and arguably most stable House in Abia history. He presided over 24 members from different constituencies, different parties, different temperaments, and held them together. He did not preside over a comatose House; he presided over a vibrant House that made laws that mattered. That is legislative sagacity that Ikwuano/Umuahia desperately needs in Abuja.

TESTED AND TRUSTED: THE SPEAKER WHO DELIVERED

As Speaker, Orji did not complain about pay or party. He delivered. He gave Abia the first ever Law on Diaspora Commission. He gave legislative backing to road infrastructure. He protected the independence of the legislature while maintaining harmony with the executive. He showed that you can be firm without being hostile, that you can be loyal without being a lackey. That is the quality alternative Ikwuano/Umuahia is now listening to – a man who delivers, not a man who explains away failure.

UNBOSSED AND UNBOUGHT: THE FREEDOM TO REPRESENT

The greatest asset Orji brings is freedom. He is unbossed and unbought. He is not answerable to any godfather in Lagos or Abuja or Umuahia. His only godfather is Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia. An unbossed representative can look Mr. President in the eye and demand the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Road. An unbought representative can look the Minister of Education in the eye and demand full funding for MOUAU. A bossed and bought representative can only whisper excuses. Ikwuano/Umuahia wants a voice that is free.

BURU EZIOKWU: THE MAN OF TRUTH AND VERIFIABLE RECORDS

Orji is known as Buru Eziokwu – the one who carries truth. In a politics littered with half truths and bubuyaya, he stands as a man whose words can be verified. When he says he will sponsor bills, you can check the Abia Assembly Hansard and see bills he sponsored as Speaker. When he says he will attract projects, you can drive around Umuahia and see the legislative quarters he built, the Assembly Complex he renovated. He does not do audio. He does verifiable.

KWECHIRI: THE BRIDGE BUILDER THE CAPITAL NEEDS

He is also Kwechiri – the bridge. Ikwuano/Umuahia needs a bridge between Ikwuano and Umuahia, between North and South, between town and gown, between government and governed. Orji is that bridge. He has friends in Ikwuano Oboro and friends in Umuahia urban. He speaks the language of the farmer and the language of the professor. He will not be a representative of one clan; he will be a representative of the whole capital constituency.

THE MOUAU ADVANTAGE: A REPRESENTATIVE WHO UNDERSTANDS EDUCATION

Ikwuano hosts Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike – a federal university that has suffered chronic underfunding. Orji understands the education ecosystem. As Speaker, he worked with MOUAU leadership, supported their needs, and understood that a federal university in his constituency is an asset, not an afterthought. In Abuja, he will fight for MOUAU’s TETFund, for its research grants, for its host community development, for its students’ employability. That is quality representation that thinks beyond empowerment bazaar.

THE CAPITAL CITY AGENDA: RESTORING UMUAHIA’S DIGNITY

Umuahia is a capital city that looks less than a capital. Its federal roads are in ruins, its federal secretariat is underwhelming, its youth are unemployed despite being at the seat of power. Orji has a Capital City Agenda – to make Umuahia capital in deed. He will push for federal intervention on Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road. He will push for a federal industrial cluster for Umuahia youth, for tech hubs that leverage the civil service population. He will restore dignity to the capital constituency.

ACCOUNTABILITY AS LEADERSHIP, ACCOUNTABILITY AS EMANCIPATION

Orji’s mantra is Accountability as Leadership, Accountability as Emancipation. He believes that to account to the people is to emancipate them. That is why he will institutionalize town halls – quarterly town halls in Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South – where he will present his scorecard, his bills, his motions, his budget insertions. He will not run away from hard questions. He will invite them. That is what listening to the other side looks like in practice.

YOUTH AND WOMEN: THE HEART OF HIS REPRESENTATION

The youth and women of Ikwuano/Umuahia have heard the incumbent and are tired. They now hear Orji and are excited because he speaks their language. Not the language of keke empowerment that insults their graduate certificates, but the language of skills, of credit, of tech, of industrial apprenticeships, of federal jobs. As a man who empowered thousands quietly as Speaker without making noise, he will do more with the federal platform. Women groups remember him as a Speaker who gave women a voice in the Assembly. He will do the same in Abuja.

OPTICS, TRUST AND THE MANDATE THAT HAS FOUND ITS MAN

Today, optics favour Orji because trust favours Orji. Over 80% of the constituency has made deductible reasonings: they have heard the incumbent and they have chosen to hear the alternative. They have decided that their mandate is for quality, not for pity. They are not swayed by blackmail or rented crowds. They know that in 2027, Ikwuano/Umuahia must not send a learner to the National Assembly; it must send a legislator who has presided over a House, who knows the rules, who knows the lobby, who knows how to get things done.

LET THE OTHER SIDE BE HEARD, LET QUALITY PREVAIL

So let audi alteram partem prevail. Let the other side be heard fully, freely and fairly. Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia have heard the incumbent – and they are fed up because the representation does not befit a strategic constituency. Now they are listening to Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji – firm, Buru eziokwu, Kwechiri, unbossed, unbought, tested, trusted, and ready to launch Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency to the path of honour and greatness. The people have listened. The people have decided. Quality is the other side, and quality is Orji.
