We Came With A Covenant To Serve All Abians, Not Few People —Governor Otti Assures Uncompromised High Standard Service Delivery To The People
Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, says that his covenant with Abia people is to serve everybody and not a few people, assuring that he will continue to do so with uncompromised high-standard service delivery to Abians, whom he says deserve quality service.

Governor Otti stated this on Sunday, 2nd November, at the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Diocese of Aba Ngwa North, All Saints Cathedral, Abayi Umuocham, where he went to worship in his usual way of going to Churches unannounced.
The Governor began his message by thanking the Church, as he has always done anywhere he worships, for their continued support through prayers and for allowing God to use them to bring his administration to power to serve the people.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank all of you for allowing God to use you to bring us to come and serve you, because, it is God, and God wouldn’t come down from heaven; he used you,” the Governor stated.
Speaking further on his covenant with Abians and the importance of God’s timing in people’s affairs, Dr. Otti said, “When we came, we came with a covenant, and that covenant is to serve Abia people from A to Z, not a few people. And that is why we are doing everything we are doing in the interest of Abia people, not the few tiny elites.
“You know God has His own time. When we came in 2015, we won the election, but then, it wasn’t God’s time, and then He asked us to wait. Any time you are asked to wait, you wait; that’s something to take away from what I’m saying today – any time you have to wait, just wait. A lot of times, people have refused to wait, and they run into their graves. So, it is very important to wait,” Governor Otti added.
He used the opportunity to reassure Abians of continued quality and impactful service delivery from his administration. In his words, “I want to assure you that this Government will continue to serve you. I’m sure those of you that have children in school (Primary and Basic Secondary), from the beginning of this year, you are not paying school fees anymore. That is the way to serve you.
“When you are ill, you must see one primary health center around you, and we have equipped them so well, some people are wondering, Is this a primary health center? And, I say that’s what Abia people deserve, and our standards are very high, and we can’t compromise.
“So, when you walk into a typical Health Center that we have renovated, you will see the difference. And, you won’t pay an arm and a leg because this is your Government.
“There are a lot of other things we are doing, but I can assure you, this is just 29 months. Why it was so difficult was because of the rot we met, but we don’t complain;
“We have used these past 29 months to stabilize. So, those who are amazed at the level of work that has been done, like the Americans say, you ain’t seen nothing yet. We have now stabilized, you will see more work.
He urged the Church to continue to remember the Government in their prayers for the wisdom and the resources to continue to serve them well.
The Preacher of the day and the Cathedral Administrator, Ven. Precious Okereke, Ph.D, preaching on the theme of their All Saints Cathedral Week “Transformed to His Glory,” with scripture reading drawn from 2 Cor 3:18, said that Christians are under obligation to look and behave like God.
Ven. Okereke opined that transformation begins from the heart, saying that when the heart is transformed, the whole body will be transformed. He said that to be transformed into the image of Jesus requires an intentional, sincere, and frantic decision not born out of emotions.
The Bishop of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Diocese of Aba Ngwa North, All Saints Cathedral, Rt. Rev. Nathan C.O Kanu, Ph.D, led the Church into fervent prayer for the Governor, his family, those working with him and the State, expressing gratitude to God for the visible and impactful changes that the State has started witnessing under Governor Otti’s administration, praying that it continues till the end of the Governors 8-year tenure.
Governor Otti was joined in the service by the member representing Osisioma South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Fyne Ahuama, and his counterpart from Osisioma North State Constituency, Hon. Iheanacho Nwogu, the Ag State Chairman of the Labour Party, Sir Emmanuel Nwaeze Oti, the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Hon. Chibueze Nwokocha, the Mayor of Osisioma LGA, Hon. Chidi Agu and some other top appointees of the State Government.
